It has been a little stinky in the hallways, so make sure to head over to the Imperial Center Store to stock up on Imperial Urinal Cakes.

| Platform Nights | | Posted by Rizzit on 04 May 09 | Okay so those of you all know about the Lounge Nights that have been so successful as of late. With that I want to start getting into some real gaming now with actual difficulty. As I wanted to do from the conception of Lounge Nights I wanted to proceed to Phase Two which is: Platform Nights.
Platform Nights would work similarly to Lounge Nights for those wondering except we will be playing with actual games. (Not that Lounge Games are not real but these would not be a kick back and relax game) However this is going to be A LOT harder to co-ordinate. I will be pairing you up by game, console, and times.
ANY SUPPORTED MULTIPLAYER GAME THAT IS NOT OF A LOUNGE NATURE CAN BE PLAYED. Platforms...Wii, 360, PS3, PC, PSP, DS. NOTE: You must be CAPABLE of playing the game in MULTIPLAYER MODE to participate. For 360 users this requires an Xbox Live Gold Subscription and so on.
So...how do we go about doing this? Simple. I need from you a COMPLETE LIST of games you CAN play and what times you are available on Friday Nights. So for me It would look like:
Jedi Knight (PC)

Galactic Battlegrounds (PC)

I will be available 2 PM -5 PM EST and 6 PM to 11 PM EST (dont have to include EST time zones include YOUR time zones)
So yeah I NEED a comnet pm of a similar nature as sort of a RSVP to participate. Like Lounge Nights there will be prizes for participation and ladders as usual. So get those PMs into my inbox! If you aren't sure if a game will be acceptable...put it down anyways. The worst that will happen is you'll get a "not this game back". Hopefullly this will be just as fun as the Lounge Nights were and basically as long as its not a MMO or lounge game we'll accept it.

BOUNTY TO CLAIM! -Earn some extra IC in VE | | Posted by Rizzit on 22 Apr 09 | | Rightio.This is a rough draft which I came up for how we can run a bounty hunting where you guys will actually earn some ICS, and where your valor as a writer might receive some recognition.How it will work.Each week, or each month.I will post a list of targets that needs to be eliminated.Say 7 targets.Each target will of course have a different bounty price,Story 1 might earn you 150 000k while Story 2 might earn you only 75 000.Here is the catch, you have to pay an entrance fee to participate. I am still working the kinks out of the idea, but I'm running first here with you. It might be a set price, or it might be a percentage of the bounty.So what happens now that you have payed and picked your story?You write it, and then you send it to me first.I will be judging the stories, the best written story of each bounty will be posted then and the writers will receive their respective bounty while the best written story of ALL the targets will receive a bonus which will be paid from the inscription fees you entered.Now, I will be talking with Cosmic, but what I'm hoping that could happen as well is that the top two stories will be featured in the VE Today. | Lounge Nights | | Posted by Rizzit on 05 Apr 09 | | Okay so to those that attended the meeting you know that starting Wednesday April 8th, 2009 we are going to hold a weekly event each week for supported play of lounge games. Basically I wanted to create one night a week where we didnt force you to do some form of work to have fun...and will be open to BOTH divisions Army and Navy. While we all enjoy whatever form of work we do, wether it is wiki work, website creation, graphical design, posting, squad management, etc...it is all WORK. There is no pure fun that comes out of it on your end. Now, before I get someone on my back about this because I have a reputation for not wanting lounge games as official activity....consider this: Normally when I complained about that it was about random games such as pool reported for activity for competitions or weekly reports. This is an organized event planned purely for a night of fun. So yes, you CAN report it in your weekly reports but it has to be during the event. No random games of pool outside of it. For the first night I am going to run one eight-hour period and only one. I realize some of you may be outside this time window but if it is successful (which I am hoping it will be) then of course we will do more of these and maybe do two periods so everyone can be accommodated. For this week however...we are looking at starting from 6 PM EST (3 PM PST) to 2 AM EST (11 PM PST) in the IRC Channel #LoungeNight. It will be running throughout the whole night (or until we all die off) and you can join at any time for any part of the event. There are prizes and ICs to be won, but I'll get to that later. Thus far I have a fairly large variety of games found that we can play. If anyone has a suggestion please COMNET PM me. Those playing Yahoo or Pogo will need a yahoo (or pogo) account. It also is great for tracking things. As I said this is organized play and I will be giving out monetary prizes as well as some ICS merchandise and various other prizes. However, you are also free to gamble your own personal ICs per round should you wish. Who knows...you just might win and earn back your money plus some? There will be no official rulings as to what rules you must abide by. Just play the game whatever way you all agree on. I will try to get you all matched in groups according to the games you want to play. For games like poker, cribbage, hearts, Chinese checkers, and such you can have at least 4 to a group so there is a fair amount of room for this. This list will be edited as games are suggested and can be played for this night. The idea is to have no-download games though so try and keep it to multiplayer web games. And should ANYONE find a multiplayer Sabaac/Pazaak client....let's just say you'll be hansomely rewarded.To make things easier on organizing this....to those that know in advance the games they want to play (maybe even suggest new ones) and know they can attend at some point during the night...comnet PM me with your prefrence list of games so you can get paired up much quicker that night.Okay so that should cover all our bases. Any questions feel free to leave them here...others might have the same question as you. I'll be more than happy to answer anything I didn't fully explain or leave out. | 'Smudge' Avatar Collection | | Posted by Cosmic on 27 Mar 09 | A previous poll showed that a lot of people wanted a new avatar collection/set, so I went ahead and made one. I found a template that I really liked, and it was pretty much a breeze from there. I call this new set Smudge
There are 55 "General" avatars, 15 "Army" avatars, and 15 "Navy" avatars (for a total of 85 new avatars!).
I need to send these to Kadann (and Kadann needs to upload them to the ComNet) before they are selectable from the avatar list. Until that time comes, I have decided to upload four pages for you to view them (1 Army page, 1 Navy page, 2 General pages [divided]).
You may save them to your hard drive and use them if you wish.

| International Gaming Zone | | Posted by Rizzit on 25 Feb 09 | Okay so as some of you may have heard...I recently had a member provide me with information on a replacement for the old MSN Internet Gaming Zone (MSNIGZ). I am sure some of you will remember this site well. It used to be a heavily used pool for recruits until it died out. This new site, the International Gaming Zone has started up a perfect clone of the old Zone. Over the last week I have sent petitions out to the High Council to get registered on there so we can start recruiting off there and for those who are interested...play games on there too.
Now...a few notes on that. First off to those that will remember how we used to register names there is NO NEED to register your name with a clantag anymore. I used to have VEA_Rizzit but for this site I just registered Rizzit because once I created the VEA Clan it shows up now as [VEA]Rizzit next to my name. (left or right of name depending on room)
I currently registered only the Army because obviously I cannot speak for the Navy. Also I did not notice any "Navy" games on there. To the Navy then: it is quite easy to register yourselves on there. If you should so desire or you are free to just join under the Army tag until such a time you do register yourselves. Recruits will join what division suits them best anyways.
As to the list of games...currently the only ones are Jedi Knight: Dark Forces2, Galactic Battlegrounds (and expansion) and Rainbow6. The site will always be adding new games they claim so in the future we might see almost 90% of our supported games on there.
Not supported games (though some I am sure you will remember) are Age of Empires (all), Microsoft Ants, and Midtown Madness. Ants is a free game by the way...you just download it and play. These games are not on the VE's official game list and most likely will NOT count towards personal activity but some of us might enjoy a casual game of something now and again so have at it. Though to be sure...contact your Commanding Officer(s).

A note on recruiting...(and there are various threads on this too if you decide to be a comnet hermit). As a recruiter you will sit in a room and wait for someone to join your room. Your room will say something like "Vast Empire Recruiting" for a title and have a description like "Come join the Vast Empire we are a Star Wars club with a focus on fan fiction but also play all of the Star Wars games. http://www.vastempire.com" Once they enter you will have the job of explaining exactly who and what we are and help them through the joining process. Be sure to offer them BOTH Divisions as we are all part of the same club. They might be better suited for the Navy than the Army or vice versa. Also be sure to get them to list you as a recruiter and list this recruit in your weekly report.
That is pretty much the gist of things. The old zone was an enormous pool of recruits for a long time...hopefully this site can be just as good. I'll try to dig up the old recruit topics and maybe someone can sticky them for us? But in the meantime if there are any questions ask your immediate superiors as they will be getting an info packet on things as well. However, I will also be available to answer any and hopefully all questions!
